With the school year ending and many of us looking for a summer job that relates to our career objective or a job that helps with our tuition, UWOtoday wants to help make sure your resume won't be the reason you don't get a job. Here are some helpful resume writing tips:- Keep your statements to one or two sentences. Anything longer and the person reading your resume may lose interest.
- Effectively use the "white space" on your page. Your resume should always have an attractive layout
- Collect the information you need before actually writing the document itself. Do not "wing it".
- Your entire employment history does not need to be listed.
Only note the most current positions you have held. Depending upon how
much you have moved from job to job, that could be two employers or it
could be five. Do not feel the need to re-create your whole employment life on paper, five years is usually good enough.
- Write professionally, avoiding jargon or slang.
- Revise, revise, revise. Make this piece of paper work for YOU
